- Need a 2.1 in order to get your foot in the door as it were... geez... no pressure hey? :P
- Analysis and Synthesis = Development.
- Can use previous art including my current art project as references and research for my own asset in ZBrush.
- As for the ZBrush asset itself, it can be anything of any difficulty. Therefore I could always make a simple knife or fork as those are simply cut shapes. Even a sword is quite simple as all it requires is a pommel, handle, cross guard and blade which are just four edited shapes. Someone even made a simple grave cross once which he said was fine as it was so detailed. Therefore, as long as I put a lot of detail into the work it doesn't have to be anything too complicated for someone still learning the program.
After being reminded how to cut and rotate on ZBrush I decided to make the following notes for if I ever get stuck again.
- Holding down 'Ctrl' and 'Shift' allows me to cut (or in truth squish) my objects. But by pressing 'Alt' multiple times I can bend the cutting line in order to make amazing curved cuts. Pressing the 'Spacebar' will also only cut the set radius of my cursor, thus making a ball look almost like an open chocolate truffle.
- '+' zooms in and '-' zooms out. Thus being super quick and useful keys to know.
Finally after a little help from my lecturer and watching the online tutorial as many times as I could I was able to produce my grenade. I recognise that it isn't complete which is a shame, but for a first attempt at creating something quite complicated I don't think its too bad. After all, even with program issues and difficulty following the online tutorial at times it still looks like a grenade, therefore accomplishing most of what was asked.
I then went in on Thursday to do some extra work and from doing so was able to texture my grenade using Lightbox as seen below.
