- · Created a long cylinder for the handle of the sword, measurements were not necessary for this.· Used the scale tool on its X axis in order to make it look more like a handle. Then I converted it to an editable poly.· Used bevel in order to round the bottom of the sword's handle.· Choosing Edge select I clicked on one of the horizontal lines and then used the loop tool in order to select all of the horizontal lines.· Going onto soft selection I ticked a box making sure to ‘Use soft selection’ before raising the objects ‘Falloff’ to around 65. Thus increasing the heat signature type colours around its lines.· I then scaled its X axis to make it look more rounded.· Then extruded the top Polygon fractionally.· I then selected one of the extruded object's side edges and used the Ring tool to connect them. Pressing Ctrl then Polygon allowed me to select all of those edges' polygons.· Right clicking the polygon faces I then selected the box next to Extrude, thus bringing up its information box. I then changed its original setting of ‘Group’ to ‘Local Normal’ so as to make them extrude from the middle and not from the side. It was then a case of just extruding them until they looked like the top of a sword handle.· Pressing Ctrl A selected all the handles' polygons. Then from doing this I scrolled down to ‘Polygon: Smoothing Groups’ and selected ‘Clear All’.· When this was done I then selected the middle part of the handle before selecting number 1 in the ‘Polygon: Smoothing Groups’ table.
